- Passage: 1 Corinthians 13:1-7
Continuing today in our study of love and 1 Corinthians 13, Tony shares about the practice of humility, which is the opposite of envy, boasting, and pride. Humility is defined by a radical centeredness on Christ. Tony reminds us while walking through 1 Corinthians that one man plants, and another waters, but only God causes growth.
Tony's points on humility:
1 Corinithians 13 tells us to NOT envy, NOT boast, and Not be proud - this translates positively into BEING humble.
What does being humble look like?
1. We embrace humility by celebrating the success of others.
2. We embrace humility by magnifying the One eternal name.
3. We embrace humility by resting in the truth of God's love.
4. We must beware of pride's counterpart: self pity.
5. We must go the extra mile by humbly apologizing and forgiving one another.
