Minister of Worship, Music and the Arts
Huron Hills Baptist Church is a growing church of 500 in Ann Arbor Michigan, with an inter-denominational feel. Our mission is to draw those who are far from God into a close and living relationship with Jesus Christ. We are seeking a full-time Minister of Worship, Music and the Arts (MWMA). The MWMA, will facilitate missional growth as the congregation worships God as well as reaching out to the unbeliever. As we seek to draw people into ever deepening levels of worship, the Minister will lead the congregation, encouraging their participation and educating them in both familiar and new ways of worship. Huron Hills Baptist Church is committed to teamwork, outreach and connectedness across our ministries. The Minister of Worship, Music and Arts will draw people into ministry with a spirit of collegiality and mutual edification. The Minister will work in close cooperation with other members of the staff as well as congregational leaders. The two main tasks for this person will be in leadership and development.
Leadership: We seek someone who can lead by example and by equipping others to lead. The person should have experience in building teams and in leading worship groups. A person with background in both contemporary and traditional forms of worship is preferred. The person should have the ability not only to lead worship groups but also to lead administratively in overseeing this growing ministry.
Development: The MWMA will develop our music, worship and arts ministry. Because of our commitment to development we supply the personnel and resources necessary to facilitate this commitment. The Minister will work with both the congregation and community as develop this ministry and as we reach out to others with the arts, drawing people with gifts of various kinds in the visual arts, dramatic arts, dance and music.
Qualifications: The Minister of Worship, Music, and Arts should have a demonstrated track record of leadership in worship, music, and arts ministry with at least 3-5 years experience. This might include work in a congregational blended worship format, with skills in traditional and contemporary forms of worship. A substantial theological foundation is necessary, as is a vibrant and growing personal maturity in Christ. The ideal candidate is an equipping leader.
