Stressed out Week 2 (Jan 17)

Main Point: God will always be by our side, regardless of how dark our days are.
Scripture: Psalm 23

In Psalm 23, David writes about our God who is our Shepherd. At times, he leads us through green pastures and brings us to still waters for rest and refreshment. The reality is, life does not often look like this. In week 2 of our series, ‘Stressed Out’, we will look at how God is our good Shepherd. He may lead us into seasons of rest and refreshment, but there are going to be seasons of life where we enter into dark valleys.

In these dark valleys, fear can grip us, and darkness can enwrap us. But in these moments, we are not alone. God will always be by our side, regardless of how dark our days are.

Discussion Questions

1) In the opening video, Trace (the little kid) seemed to be overcome with fear/anxiety with the storm they were going through. Can you relate to this at all?

2) When you go through ‘dark valleys’ in your life (i.e.times when things are difficult), does it feel like God is close by, or far away? What prevents us from dwelling on God’s presence in these moments?

3) Some people say that “God won’t give you more than you can handle”. Do you agree or disagree with this? Why?

4) What is something you can do that will help you focus on God’s presence when you are going through a hard time?
