Thanksgiving Bags!
Every year Huron Hills gifts a Thanksgiving meal to local families in need. Schools and organizations have come to rely on these meaningful and practical gifts from our church family. Grab a few bags for yourself and your neighbors to fill from the lobby or HHKids (downstairs), and return them complete with the needed items by November 5th. Or, donate the cost of a bag ($25) and our team will fill the bag on your behalf.

Welcome to Alpha!

A 6-week, dinner-included, Wednesday night series starting Nov. 1 at 6:00pm. This will give you a taste of the world-renowned Alpha course. Wherever you're at in your spiritual life, it is a great series to experience.

  • Exploring? Alpha will help you think deeply about questions you may have.
  • Newer Christian?  Alpha will help solidify you in your faith as you go deeper.
  • Long-time Christian?  Alpha will help you engage with your faith well as you also think about how to engage with those far from God, potentially even using Alpha in the future yourself.

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. It helps us think about how to thoughtfully engage together. Alpha is all around the globe, and everyone is welcome.

Welcome to Alpha at Huron Hills Church
Wednesdays at 6:00pm w/Dinner
Starting Nov. 1, for 6 weeks
(skipping Thanksgiving week).

Youth Pastor Search Update
(from Church Board)

We are excited to let you know that there are promising candidates that Nathan is currently vetting for the youth pastor position. We are hopeful that the advisory team will be able to interview them soon as well. These candidates have applied directly to the church since the board recently decided to end our contract with Minister Search. After successfully aiding us in other staff search, they have experienced high staff loss due to circumstances out of their control. In light of that, the contract has been terminated and the job has been re-posted on churchstaffing.com. If you know someone who you believe would be a great fit for our church and the position, please have them send their cover letter and resume to Pastor Nathan (nathan@huronhills.org). Thank you for continuing to pray for God's patience and guidance as we continue to trust Him for our next youth pastor!

An amazing way to serve and build valuable relationships with our college and graduate students is through our Adopt-a-Student program! Volunteer to make your home a home-away-from-home for a college student in our Huron Hills Church community.
Some ways you could serve: Provide a home-cooked meal once every week, every two weeks, or every month. Take them out for coffee and conversation. Volunteer your laundry room. Get lunch together after church on Sundays.
If any of the above suggestions sound like something you could do for one of our college or grad students (or a group of them!) we would love to have you a part of Adopt-a-Student.
For more information, or to join in the fun and service, please contact Nate Veldhoff (natev@huronhills.org).

Let's come together to engage with this essential tool for our mission and ministry! Every year this is a great time for us to discern how we can wisely advance our mission with the financial resources God has entrusted to us. The Board is eager to hear from you! Please direct your questions and input to the board at churchboard@huronhills.org. Grab some soup after worship and then join us as we review the first draft budget proposal for 2018. Childcare provided. Everyone is welcome, members are expected!

Bethania Kids
Bethania Kids thanks Huron Hills so much for your ultra-generous special offering this spring. You raised and donated about $28,000! To express our thanks and deepen our relationship, we cordially invite you to enjoy an evening of fellowship over an authentic Indian meal and experience how God is moving in India through Bethania Kids.

  • When: Tuesday, October 24
  • Where: HHC Fellowship Hall
  • Time:   6:30–8:30pm (Dinner served at 7pm)

We are blessed to be joined by two lovely women from Bethania India in a Tour of Love. These women will share their remarkable stories of how God has touched their lives and share how He is nurturing and equipping over 800+ children to change their world through Jesus' love. You will see first hand how Sponsoring-A-Child can deepen your walk with Christ and how small gifts in His Name make incredible changes!
Our guests from Bethania India are:
  • Josephine is a ministry leader for our Shalom children's home and has modeled Christ to over 100 young women over the past 10 years.
  • Cristal is a talented and beautiful graduate of our Nagercoil Bethania Home who has gone to college and become a nurse. She now ministers in Christ's name to the sick.

Thank you!
Let’s give a hand to the 41 pair of hands that volunteered to serve the homeless families at Interfaith Hospitality Network this past week. These hands from HHC served meals, provided childcare, companionship and overnight support to the families at IHN’s Alpha House. Many other hands generously supplied items for the IHN food pantry and supply closet. Thanks to all. Your expression of Christ’s love for those in need is greatly appreciated by the IHN families and staff. Join hands with us to serve during our next host week in February 2018 (next year’s schedule is not yet finalized). Contact Margaret Gaugler for more information at mjgaugler@gmail.com.
