Weekly Update Mar 23, 2017

Prayer Focus
Pray for the Children's Ministry at Huron Hills. Pray for all of the children from Nursery through High School. Pray that each one will come into a relationship with Jesus Christ and that they would grow in trust and faith. Pray for the teachers and mentors who guide and instruct them each week.

  • Isaiah 54:13
All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.
  • Proverbs 2:6
For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
  • 2 Peter 3:18
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forevermore.
  • Matthew 19:13–14
Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Women, you're invited to the iZōsh Event on Friday, March 24 at 7pm at Huron Hills: Gather, Learn, Give, and Celebrate with us! Our keynote speaker is Kari Derenzi, who will share “Kiva Stories from the Field: The Asian Tropics and Beyond.” The exciting thing is that iZōsh attendees will be able to directly impact women in some of the situations Ms. Derenzi describes by funding micro-loans -- in real time -- to women in the Asian Tropics and around the world. We hope you can join us!

Volunteers Needed in HHKids

From the Board Chair
These are the four primary characteristics identified by scholars of historic evangelicalism that we at HHC adhere to:

  • Christ: a stress on the person of Jesus Christ, his ministry and death on the cross as making possible the redemption of humanity
  • Conversion: the belief that lives need to be transformed through a “born-again” experience and a life long process of following Jesus
  • Bible: high regard for and obedience to the Bible as the ultimate authority and the primary source of all essential spiritual truth.
  • Action: the expression and demonstration of the gospel in missionary and social reform efforts

These four components afford us a lot of room to discern together where the Holy Spirit is leading our local church to be a part of the mission of Jesus.  We are asking for everyone to pray for the Lord to guide and direct us as we seek Him.

Email Prayer Group
Want to receive prayer requests from the congregation? Sign up to join our email prayer group! If you would like to receive prayer requests by email, please send an email to Allison Zehnder at azehnder@huronhills.org asking to be added to this group. Board Connection
This Sunday, March 26, is a "Meet the Board" day! Come visit us at the round standing table in the lobby to ask questions or chat with a couple of Board members. The table will be staffed between services and after second service. If you can't stop by in person, we're always available via email at churchboard@huronhills.org.

The name Shiloh means "place of peace." For women experiencing the pain of infertility or loss, nothing may be more needed than peace, rest, support, and understanding. Join us on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm in Room 117 on the lower level. The lower level doors will be unlocked, and you will be greeted with tea, snacks, and a place of peace.  bianca@huronhills.org

Something Different:
Serve Our City 2017 (May 6, Projects Start at 12:30pm. Celebration Cookout 5pm)

Do you want to make a difference? Do you want to connect with our mission? Let's bless our community! Join us as we do a ministry experiment at Huron Hills! This year we will suspend the Annual Garage Sale, and connect with our community in a different and powerful way. We're assembling teams of people from Huron Hills for a day of service projects at 4 different sites: Mitchell Elementary, C.A.N. Green-Baxter Court, Huron High School, and our own HH Kids entrance area. Clean up, beautification, prayer walks, collaboration and connection with Green-Baxter residents, and other improvements will communicate in practical ways a love for our city, people far from God, and help continue our practice of training in servant leadership our HH Youth Mexico Team! As the day ends, our church family will gather for a celebration cookout at 5pm! More info coming soon!

March at HHKids
We will spend the month taking a closer look at the way forgiveness shows up throughout a few of the parables Jesus told His followers and help our kids discover more about Forgiveness– deciding that someone who has wronged you doesn't have to pay. Our Memory Verse for March comes from Colossians 3:13. “Put up with one another. Forgive one another if you are holding something against someone. Forgive, just as the Lord forgave you.” (NIrV)

March in First Look
This month, our preschoolers will be "Building" love for others and learning that they can love everyone, just as Christ loves them! Our memory verse is John 13:34 - “Love one another.”
